Yoga Teachers

Requirements:

  1. Prior teaching experience and completion of the BV Yoga 200 Hour Teacher Training Certification Program or Level 1 Training with Baron Baptiste, or a commitment to do so within the next year.

  2. Take 5 classes at Bala Vinyasa Yoga to see if it is a fit for you.

  3. Meet with the Director of Teacher Development to discuss requirements to teach at BV Yoga and your qualifications. In this meeting we will discuss BV Yoga expectations, your expectations, and the feedback process that we actively practice to support each other’s growth.

  4. Practice Teach: You will come in for a 30-minute practice demo class for teaching staff and managers. After the session, we will take approximately 20 minutes to provide feedback and determine the next practice teach. At this time we may suggest that you participate in our Coaching Program for teachers (see our website for more details about this program.) If you are interested in teaching Power Vinyasa, you must follow the Baptiste Yoga sequence.

  5. You will teach a live segment of an agreed upon teacher’s class. After the class, we will again take approximately 20 minutes to provide feedback and determine the next practice teach.

  6. Orientation: Your detailed reading and acceptance of the Policy and Procedure Manual (emailed to you after step 4) is an essential component of your orientation to the studio. The Director of Teacher Development, Studio Manager, or Front Desk Coordinator will familiarize you with the physical organization of the studio, opening and closing procedures, and the studio management software mindbodyonline.com. In this orientation you will need to complete and provide the following documents:
    • Current 200 Hour Yoga Alliance-approved Teaching Certificate
    • CPR and health/fitness-related certifications
    • Proof of liability insurance
    • Copy of your teaching resume
    • Biography for website use (please email to Director of Teacher Development; see examples on our website)
    • Driver’s license
    • Signed consent for background check
    • Signed and dated Independent Contractor Agreement
    • Signed photo/model waiver
    • Completed W-9
    • Professional headshot (please email to Director of Teacher Development; when hired to teach on the regular class schedule, BV Yoga will take a new headshot)

  7. All BV Yoga teachers are required to maintain current CPR certification and proof of insurance.

  8. All BV Yoga teachers are required to maintain Yoga Alliance certification or be actively engaged in the process of attaining a 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher Certification

  9. To receive a full time class on our schedule, you must first sub 10 classes at BV Yoga. You will receive a free class and be paid $25 for each class you sub. Your spouse or live-in partner is welcome to attend the class you substitute teach at no charge.

  10. All BV Yoga teachers are required to read Journey into Power and 40 Days to Personal Revolution by Baron Baptiste.
